I'm not well versed on Jags much but I was told this 'C' model was very rare. I believe only 2000 were built. Hard top / convertible top. Targa type.
12 years ago the motor was rebuilt and has 500 miles on it since then. A local Jag dealer did the work. The car has been in storage for 12 years since my buddy died of cancer and his wife is willing to let it go. Needs brakes. Runs well. 12 cylinder Automatic. The car is about 1 hour south of Allentown, PA.

Re.: 1979 Jaguar XJ-S III, 2 Door Automatic, 31,592 Original Miles
Edited on 2013-05-29 1:16:10

I have read that Jaguar only made 178 of these 1979 Jaguar XJ-S cars. The autobahn in Germany said the fins on the shoulders of the back windows would cause accidents because they would inhibit the drivers view out of the back windows. It was discovered that this was not the case. Jaguar began making more of these cars in 1980 and thereafter with the fins until the design was completley changed later. XJ stands for "eXperimental Jaguar." The S stands for Series, this being Series III.

This is a 1979 XJ-S, 2 door with automatic transmission, air-conditioning and electric windows and locks. The car has 31,592 original miles. The front has bucket seats, the back has seatbelts for three. It uses unleaded fuel, the tank holding 24 gallons, and has emission control. It has power steering and and power brakes & electrically operated window and door locks. The motor is a 12 cylinder running with 3 carburetors and its capacity is fullfiled with a 326.06 cubic inch motor (I think). Normal use is considered 120 MPH. This vehicle has many more accessories as the ultimate in touring automobiles.

I am the 3rd owner. A doctor in Walnut Creek, California bought this Jag new for his wife. She refused to drive it anymore because she heard it was dangerous. My mechanic told me it was probably because the electric harness runs over the gas tank. It sat in their garage for years.

An account for a car dealership in Anacortes, Washington was the 2nd owner. He went to California and had the Jag trucked up to Anacortes. His hobby was restoring corvettes and he decided to restore this Jag. He had it shipped to Seattle, Washington where it was sandblasted down to bare metal. He told me he only saw two welds on the chasse, one on top of each shoulder where the fins were attached. He had it painted light green, a stock colour of Jaguars (although it looks silver to me). He also had new leather installed on the seats & doors, new felt interior liner & new floor matts. He decided to install a larger radiator. The Jag comes with a custom cover, Jaguar mud flaps that are still new in the box, and the original smaller radiator. The Jag has Jaguar Caps on the wheel hubs. The Jag includes the original Drivers Handbook & the serial number tag for making new keys. The Jag was again stored in a garage. He and his wife decided to open their own home decorating store and needed the capital to purchase inventory.

The Jag had 31,094 miles when I bought it. The windshield wipers, horn, radio and fans did not work. I took my Jag to an import auto specialist, it probably only needed a new fuse. The mechanic told me I should replace the flexible hoses as they were old & brittle. I spent $3G getting them replaced. One day I was driving down the highway and a hose that had not been replaced split & the motor overheated, I did not notice until it was too late. Now the car sounds funny, it smokes terribly & all the warning lights on the dash are on. I drove it a total of 498 miles. I still did not get the above items fixed. I have had it stored in a garage since October of 2008, and have not renewed the license since then. I have just purchased 2 new front tires and a battery.

My favorite thing about this car is its brakes. Once when I was driving down the highway excelling to about 70 miles per hour, I had to make an emergency stop. It went from 70 to zero in about 6 feet without swerving an inch. There was a concrete barricade to my left and several cars to my right and front. The Jag is equipped with a dual circuit system in which braking to the front wheels is completley isolated from that to the rear.

One can either have the original motor rebuilt, or have a V8 dropped in. If one put the V8 in, and parted out the original Jaguar motor and its parts, I am guessing it would pay for itself. That would be up to the initiative of the buyer. You may email me for more photos and/or questions.

I will take $10,000. If I get lots of offers, it will go to the highest bidder. If you really want it without a bidding war, I will take $16,000. I am willing to take payments with a Promissory Note, zero interest, possession only upon payment in full. I may be reached at (503)397-9710 or email @ Agardenbum2@aol.com. I live in Oregon, the Jaguar is in Anacortes, Washington. Arrangements have already been put into place for viewing by appointment only.

***If you are a 3rd Party, please do not contact me about selling the car for me.***

84,358 miles (at time of posting)

Selling For: $4250 (this includes an set of 4 seven-slot rims and a beige car cover)

Exterior: Topaz
Interior: Ivory

The body of this XJ8 has very few dings and a few extremely small rust spots (one on the edge of the door and one on the edge of the trunk) that you really have to look for. The interior has a few small imperfections, and you can tell the only seat that has been used much is the driver’s seat. I have owned it since July 2008, put 10K-11K on it, and have kept it very clean.

The car runs fantastic! I had the engine gone through in May of 2012 (have the receipt of work done) which really improved performance and took care of a few issues. The engine light has been on since I owned it. It was put on an engine dyno in May of 2012, and it stated the issue was the fuel cap. A new fuel cap was installed, but the light has remained on. I do have a CarFax from June 2012, and will get an updated one. Since the CarFax of 2012, I have had a synthetic oil change, rotated/balanced the tires, and just had the front passenger side rotors, calipers, and brake pads replaced. It has a clean title and is in my possession. I also put in a new battery around August of 2012.

Features: original Jaguar 6 Disc CD Changer in trunk; full-size spare with the 10-slot rim and Jaguar Wheel emblem; two sets of keys plus valet key, moon roof, power everything, plus numerous other features. The only thing that (to my knowledge) doesn’t work is the cassette player and it doesn’t have a MP3 hook-up.

For more information and more pictures, please feel free to email.

1973 V12 E-Type 2+2

1973 V12 E-Type 2+2 for sale, asking $16,500. The car was parked in the garage about 10 years ago when one of the wheel cylinders started to leak and it has not moved since. Originally purchased and driven down from Canada, the prior owner had spent over $15,000 rebuilding the motor and putting a new interior in the car. The current owner enjoyed driving it for several years before parking it. In its current condition it would probably require going through the brake and fuel system before it could be driven. The car was originally brown but was painted red some years prior to the current ownership. There are a few very small rust spots and up close it is clear that the quality of the paint is not as nice as it should be. The odometer currently reads 76,977 and is believed to be the actual miles. The car is located near Manchester New Hampshire and can be seen by appointment only. For additional photos or info please call Clarke Taylor at 603-587-0577.

Doors and trunk open and shut very good. Motor is not running nor have I tried to get it running. I do not have the keys. Cable for hood is broke, but I can open the hood. I have lost interest and time and have too many other projects. $1000 or best offer. Located in Waseca, MN. Call, text, or email. Matt 507-521-0225
