Peter, only takes about 2.5 to 3 lbs pressure. No problem with the pump running, won't hurt the pump to use a regulator.
Good luck, Tom

Since we're on topic, can anyone weigh in with what the required fuel pressure is for a dual Zenith-Sromberg set-up? More precicely, a 1968 2+2 that has been purchased with an aftermarket pump already installed. The cars runs overly rich, spitting fuel out the exhaust and before attempting to mess with anything I wanted to find out the fuel pressure needed for those dual carbs. I have also purchased a FilterKing regulator w/Gauge and am planning on replacing the stock fuel filter with it once I get a better handle on the fuel pressure situation. Since there is no return line, at least in my car, when the fuel regular is set to a lower pressure than what the pump is producing what happens with the fuel? The pump does not shut off, does it just keep pumping as much as the fuel regular will allow? If so, is this bad for the pump? Any answers, suggest are much appreciated. Thank you.

The V12 electric pump is fine. It has two pump bodies so is highly unlikely to leave you stranded anywhere, if that is your concern.

Even if one side died after forty years, the other side would get you home. Meanwhile, as you are finding (and may yet find further) you need to go through the process of matching flow and pressure characteristics and pray your custom choice works as well and lasts as long as the Lucas one will. Jaguar did all the hard work of matching the pump to the engine's needs for you. Make sure the fuel return valve is working correctly too.

I'm all for 'upgrading' or improving where there are known weak spots (or where making it perfectly original is very expensive). I don't think the V12 pump is a weak point though and the difference between a new one and whatever you buy is likely to be a few tens of dollars? With a refurb kit you would probably save the same amount.

You are right it's not an update and the SU pump is an electrical pump but i'm looking for an other type of pump (I mean rotation instead diaphragm pump)
If somebody has ID Product Brand and ref don't hesitate
thanks again

Might I suggest the wording here be changed from UPGRADE, which it certainly is not! The SU pump is electrical, efficient and totally reliable! Particularly on the V12 cars.
