Has anybody here ever removed the inner door card on their 2003-2008 All aluminum X350. I have the Jaguar service CD and it is so vague as to how to do it. I am trying to take the inner panel off the rear passseger side door. I have removed all the screws that I can find, six in all but the card itself will not budge.
My questions. Does the outer trim part (the hard plastic piece that runs down each side and across the bottom) come out with the rest of the inner panel?
Does the panel pull straight off to release the clips holding it or does it take an upward movement first.
Are there in fact conventional clips holding it in place.
Does the trim wood panel where the inside handle is, come off before attempting to remove the door panel
I have tried about everything and mine will not budge. Think I will break somethign if I apply any more force to it.
Thanks if somebody can help me with this.

Here's a document that may help. Brace yourself, you are going to swear something is going to break, but it generally doesn't.
Good luck!

Thank you Steven. I am still not sure if the outer hard plastic part is seperate from the rest of the panel or if it comes off with the panel.

If you are meaning the black portion at the front, top corner of the door, that stays on the door.

Steven. Thanks again but no it is not. Turns out that what I am talking about is a shield that is mounted behind the door card and does not come off with the card. Only the centre part pulls off and then you get to work on the hard plastic (with the flange that shows) behind it. Only got this information late yesterday. Lucky I did not continue to try and force this part off as everybody else was telling me to do. It would have been damaged and it would have ended up costing me money to replace it.
Normally in these circumstances I trot off to the local scrap yard and remove whatever it is from a scraped car. The owner of the yard does not mind because he gets the part to put in his stock and I get the knowledge on how it is done. Problem this time was he does not have any Jaguars in his yard made after the year 2000.

Bob I have removed trim panels,as follows.
Remove cover plug and screw behind the chrome door release handle.
Remove 2 screws from under side of arm rest/door pull handle.
Remove screw and flare plug from bottom face of trim panel, below courtesy light. Note, may need to remove false bottom in door pocket to push flare plug out.
Trim panel can now be pulled off, plastic parts not connected.

Thank you "all" for your help on this. I did eventually find out the panels were of two separate parts and once that information was understood, the panels came off without a hitch allowing me to change the door handle/strap which is what I was trying to do in the first place. Other than this minor hitch, I absolutely love this car.

I have a XJ6 ( X350 ) 2004 were the LH Rear Passenger door has deadlocked shut and cannot be opened from inside or outside. Whilst the Key and Fob operate all other doors and latches this door is not responding and there is no indication that the actuators are working. The local dealership suggests that I will have to destroy the inside door panel in order to gain access to the door lock mechanism. This seems a bit drastic to me. Has anyone had any success removing the inside door panel from a locked door? If so, perhaps there is a few photos which would help explain the process.

Have you tried opening the door with one person holding the latch open on the outside and another pushing the door open from the inside?? I would not be surprised that the door needs to be open to remove the panel. I suspect that panels would be available at reasonable prices from junkyards, although you may have to purchase an entire door.
