Senator Dean Florez (D. Bakersfield) has introduced legislation that would repeal SB 42. As you will recall then Senator Quentin Kopp saved our hobby by getting passed legislation that exempted automobiles 30 model years old and older from smog checks.
Senator Florez' bill SB 708 would require that starting in 2005 only cars 45 model years old and older would be required to meet smog requirements in effect in 2005. This would wipe out the use of the whole range of XKE and newer cars.
I think it is important to stop this legislation! Please contact your local legislators and ask them to oppose Senator Florez' legislation.
