XJS V12 Engine "dress up" parts

Since I am not a concours type person, I use my '90 XJS-C as a fun "driver" I am wondering if there is some source for some nice looking engine "dress up" parts such as a cover for the top of the engine so that one is not looking at a lot of wires and fuel rails. I think that I have seen someone's avatar that has a red one in it. Maybe a totally random question, but curious anyway... ;-)

The red cover you saw will only fit the 6.0 fuel rails and throttle pedestal. Most of them were molded in black plastic with chrome stripping. I have never seen anything that would work on any of the 5.3 engines.

Ah, so I have seen a cover... Lot more 5.3's than 6.0's out there, wonder why no one has ever made one for the 5.3? Who sells the black/chrome ones? Am I the only one that would like a nice cover? ;-)

George,
That red cover you saw was from my 6.0 liter 1995. The cover came on the 1994 and 1995 XJS and also on the XJ12 with the 6.0 engine. I don't know of an after market supplier who sells them or something that fits the 5.3 liter engine. They are supposed to be black with silver striping. However I like the look of red on the Ferrari engines and decided to change mine. Too much black under the hood. E-mail me at jagunut1@aol.com and I can give you contact info on another CJC member who dressed up his 5.3. He may be able to point you in the right direction.

Jerry,
I like the red also. How did yo get the chrome striping done? My chrome is peeling off.

Where would one get the cover for the 6.0? I am sure that it could be modified to fit ;-)

Haven't tried them yet, but my local Jag dealer checked in the US and the UK and couldn't find a new one, which if they had, would have been $63.50. It is discontinued and out of stock. I have checked with several other Jag parts places with no luck. Will try Coventry West. If I can't find one, I just may make one out of aluminum and paint it with crackle red. Might work ;-)

Looked back at my emails and I actually did send them one on the Jag Engine Cover NAC3920AA but haven't gotten a response yet.

Steve,
I tried everything but found it difficult for me to paint the raised areas. Since Red isn't a concours acceptable color anyway I bought 3M pin striping at Auto Zone, 1/4 inch. I put it on next to the raised areas instead and for some reason it has not come lose. I thought that the engine heat would give it a short life, but it has been on for almost 2 years now.

Sandy,
I have seen some 6.0's for sale but they are all attached to a car unfortunately. By the way your XJS looked great on I-40 and sounded even better. Glad to have a chance to meet you at the club meeting.

Got the used cover from Dick @ CW and will now repaint and stripe as Jerry did, once I figure out a mounting system ;-)
