I would like to know what style/color of hood badge my 1996 XJS (4.0) convertible came with from the factory - does anyone know? The previous owner changed it and I would like to restore it to the original equipment. The parts dealers' catalogs show several styles and colors, but don't indicate which one was the original equipment.

Thank you

Peter,
The bonnet emblem should be the Black Burnished Oxide.

There were some speciality models earler that had the Gold emblem.

How did you end up with an extra? How "cheap"? They're not very expensive from the parts catalogs/stores.

Although they were black they matched nothing else on the car, IMHO they look much better polished.

I was thinking about $30 for the badge would be fair. I have a complete donor car and I have been scrounging up everything I can to complete my now aborted restoration of my 94, v12 coupe.

Peter, all of the Jaguar Dealerships are running a special on emblems. I know b/c my associate sent out the flyer this week. Ask your PM about it.

Craig,

I appreciate the info, but you lost me on the abbreviations (b/c, PM). Also, any idea how much the badges cost with the specials?

Thanks, Peter

Getting back to you. Do also have the pad that goes under the hood badge or any of the washers and set screw?

Steve DAngelo,

The previous message was meant for you, but I forgot to address it to you. Anyway:

1.) To confirm, the badge is black? What color is the trim?
2.) Does it have any other lettering on it (e.g. 4 liter)?
3.) Do you have the pad that goes under the badgo too?
4.) Do you have any of the mounting hardware such as washers and set screw?

Thanks, Peter

Peter,
We should not conduct business on this site, as it is frowned upon.
I was just offering a bronze finish badge that looks nearly black in like new condition.
Any fastener, hardware or monting pad would be additional.
