Welcome to the JCNA Image Galleries, developped exclusively for

One of the first things you will notice is the need to register in order to upload your images; visitors can browse the galleries but cannot post until they register. It is a very simple process which ensures that email addresses are correct; once you register for the galleries you can also use our discussion forums and classifieds. See Registration section for instructions

Browser compatibility : like all pages on our site, we've tested the galleries under the most popular browsers and OS. Older versions of Netscape, like version 4.x, do cause some pages not to display properly. Although usable, we strongly recommend that you upgrade to the newer version. There are no issues that we are aware of when using Netscape 5 and above or Explorer 5 and above.


A few basic rules...

1. No selling, No listings of Wanted  please use the separate classified section.
2. No Commercial Announcements or Ads - Contact the editor of the Jaguar Journal if you wish to promote your business.
3. Keep the posts related to the Gallery you chose
4. We reserve the right to remove ANY post we deem inappropriate without notification.
5. If you have any problem using the system, let us know - We need your feedback to improve our club website!



Images you can post

Your images must be in a JPG format (GIF will also work but JPG is recommended) and file size must be under 200kb. Unless you really need to show extensive details, we strongly suggest you resize down your image to 800 pixels wide so that they fit the average computer screen.

Your digital camera or computer probably came with editing software which allows you to resize your images. If you don't, a free and easy to use program can be downloaded from

If you don't have a digital camera, you can take pictures with a regular 35mm camera and when you get the film processed ask the lab to put the images on disk. Even the big drugstores can do it ! Also, don't forget that you can often use pictures of your car that are already on your club website or when you have the picture from your club site on the screen, right click on the image, choose Save Picture As and save it to your computer. You can then use this image and upload it in the galleries.


Visitors to our on line services can view but cannot post. Registering takes only a minute and allows you to set preferences and options; it also serves as a verification of email addresses.

From the main Gallery page, simply click on the New User Registration link to open the Registration form. Fill out the form and choose which forums, if any, you would like to subscribe to (you can change this at any time later on). We strongly recommend that you use your full name and avoid screen names, handles, etc... If you really prefer not to use your full name, at least use your first name and last name initial.

After filling out the form, click on the Submit button. Wait a few minutes and check your email for a confirmation number that was emailed to you when you clicked on the Submit button. Enter the number in the confirmation form which should still be in your browser and click on Submit.

If you have closed your browser or moved to another location, use the link provided in the email message. Click on the link, type in your email address and password in the login page, click on Submit. Then type in the number in the field at the top of the form. Click on Submit.

Your registration is complete and the next page will prompt you to log in. You can then post messages to our Forums, upload images to the Galleries or post classifieds.

Posting an Image - Quick Start:

  • Go to the main gallery page and click on the gallery in which you want to post your image.
  • Click on Create New Series link.
  • Fill out the Form:
  • Type in a Title for the series.. ex 1974 E-type Roadster
  • click on Browse Button to locate the file on your computer. This uses a standard file selection box, after you choose the file, do not change the content of the location field. to choose a different image, click on Browse button again.
  • Do not change the Image URL field if you are uploading an image from your computer to the JCNA Server
  • Type in a title for this image... ex: 74 e-type on display at the JCNA Challenge in Phoenix
  • Type in your JCNA nr (fully formatted as NE38-12345 you must include the region, club and hyphen) This will automatically link your picture to any score or standing result.
  • Type in the class number you show your car in (or slalom class)
  • Choose a category
  • Type in an optional text, as long as want...
  • Click on Submit Button
  • Wait for the image to be uploaded and a confirmation message to appear. Be patient if you image is large and connection slow.

That's it! your image should now appear in the gallery...

User Preferences and options are stored in your user profile. To update these, click on the Update Registration Info link on the main forum page, available after you login.

  • Home Club : select your club from the club list which is sorted by region / number. Selecting a home club will allow you to access some club specific features including local club forum visible only to registered users who selected a home club. Also, Image Galleries contributions will also be shown on the page of club you selected.
  • Signature Line : up to 200 characters, may include Jaguars you own, hometown, club, etc.. anything you want to add as a signature to your post without having to type it. This will automatically be added to each message but you will be able to edit it or delete it upon posting.
    Do not include any form of advertising, for sale, bargain, special etc... Vendors who contribute to our forums on a regular basis are allowed to mention their company name, location and URL / 800 number but no special, prices, offers and advertising slogans !
  • Reply Notification : when checked you will automatically receive an email message when a reply is posted to one of your messages. Note that if someone replied to another message in a thread you are participating, you will not be notified.

Remember me / auto login

if you do not want to have to login everytime you access our online services, you can choose to use a "Remember me" option. When selected, a cookie will be placed on your computer and you will not have to login unless you manually logout by clicking on a logout link. This is useful for frequent posters.

To activate this feature, login and go to the Update Registration page. Select the "Remember me" option and click on the Submit button.

Do not use this feature if you access the services from someone else's computer. If you do, make sure that you manually logout!

Basic display

The main Gallery page gives you a list of all available gallery sections with the number of images and date of the last upload. Click on a Gallery name to open that section.

Section pages show each series of images submitted in that section, with the first image in each series shown asa thumbnail. If the user uploaded more than one image in a series, a link will be shown indicating the number of images in that series: View all 8 Images. Clicking on that link when available will open a new page with all images in that series shown as thumbnails.

Clicking on an image will open a new window with that image shown full size. Any text posted with that image will be displayed under the image, scroll down to view it.

About Image Series

Creating Series is a very useful feature of our galleries, it allows you add new images at any time in the future. This is a very convenient feature especially when documenting long term projects; additional images can only be added by the user who uploaded the first image in the series. To add an image to a series, click on the Add to the Series link which will only be visible if you are logged in and if you are the series' contributor.

There is virtually no limit to the size of the text you can include with each image. Again this is convenient when posting technical procedures with step by step instructions or when documenting a restoration.

You can delete any image in a series at any time; if you delete the first image it will be replaced by the second images as a title on the section page.

Image Submissions

To start a new Series, click on Create New Series link. This will open a New Post window where you can submit your image and add your text. Make sure you type in a meaningful Subject as this is what will be shown in the Gallery index. When ready, review your post and click on the Submit button; a confirmation page will appear.

If you need to edit your post, you must delete it first and redo it. Before deleting it, you can copy the text to your computer's clipboard (in Windows, highlight the text and press CTRL INSert). After deleting it, click on new message or new thread link and paste the old text (in windows, click where you want to paste the text and press SHIFT INSert). Edit as needed.


Optional Image URL

Enter the address to picture you want to use with your post on your server or a web page. Do not enter the page address on which the image appears but the image address itself (it will end in .jpg or .gif, not in .htm). If you are not sure of the image URL, go to that page, right click on the picture and choose properties. You can then copy the URL and paste it back in the post message form.

If the image you want to use is not already on the web but is only on your computer, see next section.


Upload an image to the JCNA Server

You can upload your image from your computer to the JCNA server. To upload an image, click on the Browse button and select a local image on your computer. If you are using Internet Explorer, a thumbnail of your image will be shown after you select it, but this feature is not available with Netscape. Type a title to your image and do not change the Image URL field.

When you are ready to post your message and upload the image you selected from you computer, click on the Submit button; this will post your submission to the gallery and upload your image to the JCNA server.

Depending on your connection and the size of your image, it may take a couple of minutes for the file to be uploaded from your computer to our server... be patient, do not stop and reload the page. In most browser, an progress indicator will be shown in the status bar at the bottom of your browser window. When completed, a confrmation page will appear with a preview of your post and image.

Images must be less than 200k, check the size before you try to upload. File must be a JPG or GIF, any other format will be rejected. See Tips section for information on image sizes


POSTING Tips / Help


The size limit for images uploaded to our server is 200k, primarily to reduce download times when visitors view pages. There is no reason any image should be larger than this, even if a picture as large as your screen, it should easily fit under the 200k. Most new digital cameras create high resolution images that are great for printing but not suitable for the web.If you do not have software to prepare the image, try Irfanview, a free program available at It is is very easy to use and will allow you to resize any image in addition to many other convenient feature.

The best size for images in the galleries are 600 to 800 pixels wide in JPG format. When saving your files, choose JPG Option and compress by about 40% (or set image quality to 60% depending on the program you use). This will dramatically reduce file size.

Avoid GIF files for pictures, they're ok for logos and drawings but not for pictures. Bitmaps ( BMP), TIFFs, and others are not suitable for the web because of dowload times.


Optional link URL / Title

When creating a new message you can enter a link and a title to a web site or web page that may include additional information and pictures.

Please type in the http:// portion of the link !


How do I cancel my registration

Login and click on update user registration. Unsubscribe from any forum you are subscribed to and click on submit. You will never hear from us again... If you change your mind later on, your registration can be re activated by loging in.


Linking to our Galleries

JCNA affiliate clubs are welcome to link to our forums, galleries and Classifieds and can even customize them so that they will blend in their own website. Please see the club help page for information on linking and customizing.



We do not collect email addresses from our forums for any purpose. You will only receive emails from us if you elect to receive reply notifications or if you subscribe to some of the forums. You can unsubscribe at any time.
