The JCSA Dramamine Drive has become a well-attended annual event that members look forward to. The 2-day drive has tight turns one day and sweeping curves the next. It is a real driver's dream run. |

The rain stopped but the water kept going up and flooded one side of the 4 lane highway. Many roads were closed including interstate 65. The town was completely surounded by water except for route 31. The only way we could make it out of there. |

The first [club] event [in June 2008], the Wine Country Classics at the Infineon Raceway, was attended by a couple of [club] members independently. Early reports were positive and the racing event was a good showing of antique race cars. Although Jaguar is no longer a sponsor of this event, I understand that there were several Jags racing. In the future, perhaps the new owners will understand the significant relationship between Jaguar racing and Jaguar sales. - Richard Starch |

Shriners held their Concours d’Elegance at Mather field on Sunday, May 18 as one of their fundraisers for a very worthy cause, their children’s hospitals nationwide. We were invited to participate and exhibited our ‘54 XK120 Jaguar. Since we do drive it for enjoyment from time to time, it wasn’t polished enough for judging. An excellent selection of cars were present, some other Jags – another XK120, an automatic transmission XK140, a couple XKEs, a 1937 Jaguar 55 and a ’47 Mark IV as well as other interesting machinery. - Linda Banta |

Our second [club gathering in June 2008] was a great picnic event at the Sacramento Zoo. The weather was perfect by every means. The attending members enjoyed and shared their picnic foods while being entertained by several of the zoo animals. After the food, we toured the zoo and made every attempt to see our Jaguar. For a brief moment, the big cat walked by the viewing window. Magnificent! Then we attended the auction trying to obtain a framed jaguar photo. Fortunately, club member’s restrained themselves as the bidding war forced the winning bid to $160! - Richard Starch |

In 1956 Nevil Shute had been living in Australia for about six years. At this point he was a rather wealthy author having written several best sellers at least two of which had been made into successful movies. He purchased the XK 140 from a dealer in Melbourne, Victoria. He then entered it in several club races in the Melbourne area. In 1957 he wrote what is probably his best know book, On the Beach. This novel included a wild races sequence which was subsequently incorporated into the movie version of the book. The CAF (formerly the Confederate Air Force) now the politically correct Commerative Air Force Wing at San Marcos, TX hosts an annual fund raising party that is an absolute ball. The Jaguar Club has participated for the past three years and it gains in popularity each year. |
