Welcome to the 2006 JONAT !
|
|

Jaguar Owners North American Tour is
a relay of connected sectors that
circumnavigates North America. It is open to anyone driving a Jaguar.
Entrants can join the tour for a day, a sector, or as far as you
want to go. Last year's record was Denver to Los Angeles. One low
fee (under $50 est.) will enter you in the tour for a day or from
beginning to end.
Each Sector has its own Coordinator who plans
the route through their area. The pace will be leisurely with a
typical day's drive around 200 miles (300 kilometers). It shouldn't
exceed 300 miles (480 kilometers). Occasional day-long stays will
be scheduled at places of particular interest.
The first JONAT, in 2004, started and ended in
Orlando, FL and ran clockwise around the continent. The 2006 edition
will start at the JCNA AGM in Seattle, WA April 2, 2006 and end
at the Western States Meet in central Oregon, July 14, 2006. (See
partial, tentative list of sectors at left. Check back to confirm
dates and places.)
While the 2004 JONAT as a whole had no affiliation
with any group; 2006 will be organized with the support of JCNA
and local affiliate clubs. With that in mind, we're encouraging
clubs to hold events in conjunction with JONAT passing through.
A club dinner would be a great idea, a JCNA-sanctioned event such
as a concours or slalom would add more people to the tour and
your event. The perfect match is a rally. The route can be the same
as the tour, although you'd have to keep that segment secret for
the rally to work.
Do you have a reliable Jaguar and three-and-a-half
months to spare? You could be the first person to run the entire
JONAT, which, hopefully, will become a biennial event.
Feb. 1st 2006 Update:
Online Registration is now available. To register as a participant
in one or more JONAT sectors, you will need to use your forum login.
If you have not yet registered to use our on line services (forums,
galleries and classifieds), please register now. It only takes a
few minutes and will allow you to sign up for JONAT. Click
here for Online services registration. If you are already
registered for our online services, login
and go to the JONAT Registration page.
The proceeds from JONAT registrations will be
split between JCNA, who we thank for their logistical and financial
support and the World
Land Trust for the purchase and preservation of Jaguar habitat
in Latin America.

|
| Every
effort has been made to make the information on these maps and directions
as accurate as possible, nevertheless, it is the participants' responsibility
to arm themselves with whatever navigational aids they deem necessary
to avoid becoming lost.
JONAT suggests that at a minimum, participants
equip themselves with state/provincial highway maps for all the
areas they plan to traverse. City maps of metropolitan areas would
be well advised.
Cell phones and the number of the Sector Coordinator
would be invaluable in case of breakdown or directional confusion,
although cell service may not exist in rural areas. A GPS navigational
system would be an excellent option.
The participant acknowledges that JONAT is
a self guided tour that can be driven at the participant's pace.
Participation is at your own risk, so participants must ensure they
have up-to-date Tour information and appropriate insurance coverage.
It is up to the participants to update themselves with information
which will be provided on the website.
The tour is organized by volunteers
who should not be expected to bear any legal responsibility for
their efforts on your behalf. By participating in the tour, you
acknowledge that no Sector Coordinator or other JONAT official will
be liable to you for any loss whatsoever arising out of your participation,
and any liability of JONAT to you is limited to the amount paid
by you for registration. If these conditions are unacceptable to
you please tell us immediately so that your registration fee can
be returned to you.
