April 26 and 27 is the fabled, in Arizona at least, British Euro
Auto Tour, the BEAT (registration form and more information available

Desert in Phoenix to the mile-high cattle country around Prescott
to the base of the 12,000 ft. San Francisco Peaks north of Flagstaff.
There are snacks and stops all along the way.
Shifter Karts with their tremendous acceleration and cornering
abilities are where most open wheel races learned their skills...
it's also what they do when they have time off... just ask 5 time
Formula One champion Michael Schumacher!
To put everyone in a competitive and FUN frame of mind an optional
Shifter Kart Course will be held from 6 to 9 pm on Tuesday April
29 at Bondurant. The cost for 3 hours course is $ 275, a significant
discount off the regular price. The course includes a half hour

You might help a colleague finish that long-stalled restoration.

Red Rocks and Harmonic Convergence...
|
|
The dark green of juniper and cedar stand in stark contrast to
the flaming red sandstone formations of Sedona. Spiritualists believe
that the area represents one of the greatest focal points of psychic
energy
in the world.
I can't comment on the latter, but I know it represents one of
the prettiest places on earth. JCNA ralliers will have their own
convergence in Sedona. The route will take us through land steeped
in Western lore.
We'll climb the Mogollon Rim, a natural feature that divides the
Sonoran Desert from the cool pines of the Colorado Plateau. A box
lunch is provided in Sedona.
Directions will be provided for a high-speed freeway return or
another back route if you feel like seeing more of the state.

Keep them dogies rollin'...
|
|
We're rollin' in after a tough Jaguar drive and takin' over the
Goldfield Ghost town (www.goldfieldghosttown.com).
The only authentic ghost town in the Valley of the Sun has everything
you'd expect to find in a turn-of-the-century mining camp -- a railroad,
a mine, the Mammoth Saloon, and of course the outfitters, where
you can stock up for a search for the Lost Dutchman mine in the
nearby Superstition Mountains, or just take the provisions home
as souvenirs.
The locals'll be providing' a dinner show, live western music (and
what would western music be without line dancing?), and main steet
excitement like you'd expect from an 1890s town.

Will paint peel at 160?
|
|
Not miles per hour, but degrees Fahrenheit... Phoenix is home to
Ford's and thus Jaguar's hot weather test facility.
This is top secret stuff -- no cameras allowed. See the next models
before they are released. See the mules, not the animals, but the
camouflaged test vehicles.
Ever see the V8 in an XJS? How about an S-TYPE with a roll cage?
We have.
|
Are you an electronics wiz? You'll marvel at the miles of wires,
hundreds of sensors, and the recording equipment to track it all.
This is a must-see for anyone interested in the future of Jaguar.
For some of you, this will be the most fascinating event of the
week.
NOTE: This event is limited to the first 165 registrants. Jaguar
factory drivers will be giving spirited demonstrations of the new
XJ8 on the test track.

Second leg of the triple crown...

The slalom competition will be held at the Arizona Motorsports Park
-- Arizona's newest racing facility (www.arizonamotorsportspark.com)
There's racing that day, and we are working on including Jaguar
owners in the action.

The Concours d'Elegance...
|
|
In Phoenix, a concours isn't just a show of cars, it's a full blown
event, complete with food, entertainment, raffles, and auctions.
Heritage
Square is a picturesque spot for a concours. Turn-of-the-century
homes once owned by prominent Phoenix residents grace the site.
Many are now shops and restaurants. The Science and Technology Museum,
Arizona History Museum, and other downtown attractions mean there
is no shortage of spectators.
Following the very successful template of the Saloons in the Old
West Concours of the past four years, we will be open for business
at 7:30 a.m.
A light brunch will be served from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
A buffet lunch will run from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.
That evening, from 6:30 to 10:00, the awards banquet will be held
at the Marriott. This will include a no-host bar, a mariachi band,
an auction of the CC oil painting, and the awards presentation.

All of the above is covered by One Package
Price
|
|
All of the above is covered for one very reasonable price -- $259.
That's right. For $259 one person can bring one Jaguar and participate
in all the events. Extra cars are only $90. Additional guests and
those who don't bring their Jaguars are $169 each. We'll even let
the Jaguar-less tag along on the Rally in your rental car. Just
let us know if you need a lunch.
In addition, you'll receive a 2' x 3' poster of the commissioned
Challenge Championship painting, the 50-page program, CC commemorativekeychain,
and for men, a commemorative CC desk clock. Women receive a piece
of custom jewelry specifically crafted for us from Molina Fine Jewelers.
|
If you want to participate in the festivities but can't bring in
your car, see below for our "Fly In" package... it's better
with a Jaguar of course but the Fly In is better than missing out
on everything...
We've even negotiated a very special $99/night rate for up to four
people per room at the Phoenix Airport Marriott.
The only a la carte pricing available is for people who can only
make it to the concours.
Register now. The deadline for registrations is April 15. See the
registration form for more details.

What if you aren't
bringing a car?
New, Low-Cost Option for the 2003 Challenge Championship
At the request of some of the JCNA membership, we are offering another
option for attending the 2003 JCNA Challenge Championship in Phoenix,
AZ, May 1-5.
As you know, the base price is for one person bringing one car, with
additional charges for guests and additional cars. While the cost to attend
the CC is an incredible bargain, some members were wondering if they could
experience the five days of festivities even if they weren't going to
bring a car. It wasn't an option on the original entry form, but the answer
is a resounding, Yes!
I hope you are seated as you read what this includes.
