It is the first ever Florida Tri-Club Rally set for November 18th

For the first time, JCNA sanctioned driving events will be held in Florida with a Rally and Slalom organized on Sunday, November 18th in Lake Wales. For years, Florida Jaguar Clubs have been very active in Concours but not in driving events despite the year round driving season. How the Tri-Club Rally and Slalom got started is interesting...

There is no denying that the Internet offers amazing opportunities. One of them is to know what's going on across the country and exchange views and opinions. One medium for such discussion amongst Jaguar Clubs is the JCNA message board. Recently, Steve Averill, President of the JDRCNWA (the Seattle club) posted a comment questioning the spirit of Jaguar Club members of the southeast region. Mr. Averill jokingly (we hope) suggested that we had lost that spirit and used for evidence the fact that members of his club have won JCNA's Fred Horner award 4 years in a row.

The Fred Horner Award, named after a past JCNA secretary, reads in part:

"He consistently labored to carry out the original mission of JCNA: to provide a club that could bring Jaguar enthusiasts together in good fellowship and friendly competition. He believed that family enjoyment should be the goal of all JCNA events. His concept of JCNA Championships was based on camaraderie and sportsmanship. This award honors members who work and compete in JCNA following the ideals and precepts of Fred Horner."

To qualify for the award, a JCNA member must have entered with the same car, at least one Concours, Slalom and Rally, and placed reasonably well while it is not a pure scoring award.

Gary Hagopian's E-typeOne thing led to another and a few of us have decided to face the challenge presented by those rain-soaked Westerners. We will be holding a JCNA sanctioned Rally and Slalom before the end of year!

To encourage participation, the event will be held in a location that's easily accessible for members of the 3 Florida clubs, south of Orlando, in the Lake Wales area.

Ginger's 2+2 at FranklinThe date has been set for Sunday Nov. 18th, and it will be a fun day for members of the Orlando, Sarasota and South Florida clubs. We'll first run the Time Distance Rally from 11 am to 1 pm and then will compete in the Slalom from 2 to 5 pm in the parking lot of the Eagle Ridge Mall. Of course, those who don't want to run the slalom can still enjoy the rally and watch others run the slalom. Among the entrants will be JCNA president Gary Hagopian in his race-prepared silver E-type, always spectacular on the course.

Mark your calendars and visit the club web sites for the registration form and latest updates on this fun day.
