Simply the Best!

A few years ago at an AGM in San Antonio TX, Jon Heber, JOASW, led a seminar for the purpose of defining goals and objectives for the JCNA. One defined objective for the JCNA that resulted, is worth restating here.

"The JCNA is the best and friendliest Jaguar club serving the needs of its membership."

I believe we are that! As JCNA President for the past three years, my personal goal was to try making the JCNA "kinder and gentler", as well as to better serve the needs of our membership. Although retiring from the position as president, I intend to remain an active "Immediate Past President", assisting my successor, the JCNA BOD, and working to grow our relationship with Jaguar Cars, North America.

Here are a few things relating to the "serving the needs of our membership" part, that we've accomplished in the recent past.

The Jaguar Journal has been expanded from 36 to 48 pages. There are now more articles and features included relating to all phases of Jaguar ownership. Club news, racing results, forums for expressing one's opinion, restoration articles, informative ads, Company news , and lifestyle articles, have been combined to elevate the status of our publication over the past year.

www.jcna.com has grown explosively, becoming the repository for all things JCNA. The on-line scoring system for our competition programs provides "up to the event" results, and archives those results for future reference.. Included are up to the minute news, technical articles, discussion forums, JCNA forms , on line sanctioning, events calendar, and other features far too numerous to list.

HPDE (high performance driver education) has been added as additional option for those of us "feeling the need for speed". Although still in its embryonic state, I expect this to grow in popularity as our facilitators in each region get up to "speed".. (see the HPDE calendar on jcna.com)

To insure that we continue as "The best Jaguar club" in the future, we need to focus on:

Improving the number, diversity and the planning of local events and competition. Membership growth depends on our ability to attract a broad spectrum of the membership to well planned local events. Members will return to competition events that are perceived to be run by qualified people, uniformly applying JCNA rules. Maintaining our position as "The best Jaguar club", depends on the forgoing, and is crucial to member retention, the key to JCNA growth. Its success results only from the success of its affiliates.

Fielding more qualified volunteers to become Regional Directors and officer candidates to lead the JCNA. To be the "Simply the Best" requires the best leadership at the top. Therefore, the importance of scouting your membership for good people to run for director positions, cannot be overemphasized. Talk about this at your meetings, and make the nomination forms, easily copied from jcna.com, available early in the season.

.
The JCNA is a decentralized organization whose function is providing those things that cannot be accomplished at the local level. This "bottom to top" structure leaves control to you and your AGM delegates, who establish the rules by which the JCNA is run.

My departing thought is to thank all of the JCNA Directors, committee chairs and volunteers, the Challenge Championship sponsors, and the friendly, cooperative folks at Jaguar Cars North America, who have donated their time and resources to benefit the JCNA.
