The Costin Lister Jaguar Engine Compartment
By Michael Frank

Home   News Archive Index

The bonnet tilts forward, in a similar manner to an E-Type. This car is aluminum, many Listers were made with Magnesium panels. The large bonnet ducts direct air to the brakes, radiator, and carburetors.

The best of old and new appear in this view of the left side of the engine compartment. The wheels are 16" Dunlops, in D-Type pattern. Tires are 6.00L16 racing Dunlops. Although the engine is original, it's been updated with a modern dry sump system. Excellent stepped header system was hand-built by Vintage Motorsports. Space frame construction is evident. An adjustable swaybar arm is apparent near the right tire.

Triple 45DCO Webers fuel a 3.8L D-Type engine. Modern Mallory ignition has replaced the original Lucas Unit. Estimated horsepower is 300. Here we can see the swaybar link connecting to the adjustable bar.
