A 60 minute club website ?

Home   Webmaster Resources

As of this writing, close to 40% of the JCNA affiliate clubs do not have a website.

If your club chose not to have a website because they don't think it's needed and the web is just something new that's going to go away like the Super 8 movie camera or distributor points... well, they're wrong but it is not the subject of this article...

On the other hand, if the reason for being site-less is that it's too complicated, too hard, too costly, too difficult...  well read on... we're going to prove you wrong, show you how it's done and even get you the tools... Ambitious ? no... because it's really as easy ( almost ) as typing a simple flyer so if you have a computer and are connected to the Internet go put a bottle of champagne in the fridge;  by the time it's cold, your club will be online and you can celebrate.

Of course, in 60 minutes, your site will not win you an award but it will be a good resource for your members and hopefully attract new members.   60 minutes will probably not be enough to type all the information you will want to have on your new site but at least you'll have the framework ready, some basic content and all you need to build on this foundation. Don't forget that the web is not static but highly dynamic and once you have that basic done you will be able to change it and transform it right away.

This quick tutorial is geared for those who don't know anything about web pages and designing a web site...  it's simple and written in plain English ! If you're an expert... don't bother reading, this is not for you !

This is not going to be a long boring formal and theoretical essay, at least I hope so, but a practical demonstration.  So let's assume that 59th JCNA club has just been formed and affiliated... Let's call it the Conch Republic Jaguar Club. Ever been to the Florida Keys ? they call themselves the Conch Republic and a few enterprising citizens have even created a passport, a flag, etc... so why not a Jaguar Club... and of course it needs a web site... ready ?

Step One : the tools

Step Two : home page basic design

Step Three : other pages

Step Four : where should you put it
