Started in 1998 by Jamie Morton, the new website sprang from relative obscurity to one of the best-known Jaguar sites on the web. During his tenure, the website grew dramatically in content quickly becoming a significant effort to manage. In 2000, Jamie passed the reins to a team of dedicated JCNA members directed by the newly formed Communications Committee Chair. The team saw the amount of information that was contained and determined that new design would allow for easier maintenance and improved content. However, the new design to accomplish this ambitious goal was to become a significant undertaking. Discussions about structure and features of the new design took several months. The goal was to make the website an essential stop for all Jaguar enthusiasts on the web.
After much discussion about structure and features, a simple drawing of the new site was proposed. It wasn't pretty but it began to bring together all the ideas that had been sparking about during the previous months. A short time later, a conceptual drawing followed by several computer graphic versions incorporating comments and suggestions by the design team. Then came the time to implement the design. At a maddening pace, the new website began to take shape. Published in December 2000, the redesigned website boasted many new features to help clubs, members and all Jaguar enthusiasts.
In mid August of 2001, work began under the leadership on webmaster Tom Kopke to rework the basic template of the pages to be more efficient and free of the errors that plagued the previous version.
Throughout the year, new and exciting content was added including a variety of articles on club events, activities, and historical features.
Also, for the first time, Concours, Rally and Slalom results were gathered and published on the site along with provisional North American standings.
At the same time, Bruce McCormack who had been the Communications Commitee original chair passed the relay to Daniel Thompson of the Montreal Club
In February 2002, following the resignation of the webmaster, a new Webteam lead by South Florida Jaguar Club webmaster Pascal Gademer took over the site and set to work on a series of new features to provide better services to JCNA affiliate clubs and their members. While the basic design and appearance of the web site was only gradually updated, efforts were made to increase the content and the services the website provides to JCNA members and affiliate clubs. Many new features were added including new discussion forums, online affiliate club membership applications and a revision of the classifieds system.
Throughout the year, most CGI scripts were gradually replaced with powerful and flexible PHP based pages and mySQL database system. Calendar, Club pages, forums, galleries were greatly improved and the new site structure also allowed us to integrate standings, calendar and club data in various sections of the website with little effort.
A custom designed On Line Scoring system was launched in 2002 to gather Concours, Rally and Slalom scores from the 50+ affiliate clubs. This replaced the outdated Dbase Concours software allowing clubs to submit results on line faster and with greater accuracy.
Content grew at a drastic pace in 2002, with about 100 new articles, features, news stories added to the site.
Hosting - Carlc Corp. is the current host for the JCNA Website offering competitive prices with many features (including mySQL and PHP) with reliable service and excellent customer service
