Time is fast approaching for the JCNA 2003 Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Charlotte, NC, on March 20-23, 2003, hosted by the Carolina Jaguar Club. Club contacts and various other JCNA members were sent a registration packet in early December. Just in case those registration packets were lost in the holiday mail, a registration form and 2003 AGM agenda are on www.jcna.com. It is not too late to sign up your club's two delegates or to sign up non-voting guests! Take a moment to complete the registration form and mail it before the February 24 registration deadline. The meeting will be held at the Hilton University Place. Make your room reservations NOW as the rooms are going quickly. Call 1-800-Hiltons or 704-547-7444 and identify yourself as part of the Carolina Jaguar Club block of rooms for $99. This 2003 AGM promises to be packed with informative seminars, unique events, fun activities, and plenty of socializing with fellow JCNA members.

Your AGM host, the Carolina Jaguar Club, has planned for you a wide range of opportunities when you attend this year's AGM, including:

  • visiting NASCAR Winston Cup race shops (www.raceshoptours.net) such as Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Joe Gibbs Racing
  • exploring downtown Charlotte (www.charlottecvb.org) including Discovery Place interactive museum (www.discoveryplace.org) and the Mint Museum of Craft + Design (www.mintmuseum.org)
  • shopping at the Concord Mills Outlet Mall (www.concordmills.com)
  • relaxing at the Friday night opening reception at The Speedway Club at Lowe's Motor Speedway (www.lowesmotorspeedway.com) and presentation of club newsletter and website awards
  • driving a 700+ HP stock car at Lowe's Motor Speedway
  • attending the general business meeting of JCNA
  • feasting from a Southern buffet of fried chicken and pork barbeque at noon on Saturday
  • learning at the club management seminars on improving your club publications and on club insurance, membership, and general regulations
  • gathering information at technical seminars on wire wheels, V12 engines, and restoring older marques
  • njoying fellowship at the Saturday night awards banquet featuring a regional historian talking about the rise of stock car racing in the South
  • staying a couple of days on your own to golf a few rounds at the legendary Pinehurst PGA golf courses (www.pinehurst.com) or to visit the Biltmore House (www.biltmore.com) in Asheville, the foremost private residence in the United States

Make your plans to arrive in Charlotte (NC) on Thursday in order to be ready to take advantage Friday morning of trips to local area sites or the Race Shop Tour. If you have ever wondered how these NASCAR behemoths are born and raised, then the Race Shop Tour is for you. Call 704-788-8802 to register for the Friday, 3/21/03, tour. Its just $55 per person for the 8:30am to 3:30pm tour.

The official weekend events begin on Friday with the JCNA Board meeting and the opening of the vendor area. Thanks to the following vendors for their contributions to making the 2003 AGM a success: Womax Promotions, Inc.; XK's Unlimited; Sports Leicht Restorations; Grand Prix Graphics; Foreign Accents; Hendrix Wire Wheels; Scott Jaguar; Coventry West; Welsh Enterprises, Inc.; Terry's Jaguar Parts, Inc.; and SNG Barratt.

For all participants, the first meeting is at 2:30pm with the start of the seminar series: 2:30pm Wire Wheels and 4pm V12 Engines. Those choosing to participate in the SpeedTech Auto Racing Schools driving event at Lowe's Motor Speedway need to be at Lowe's ready for the school meeting at 5pm. Dave Eckrote, 2003 CJC President, has organized this event and promises that it will be one all participants will remember! The number of participants is limited! Call 877-463-7223, extension 201, to check on the availability still of registering for the Jaguar AGM driving event. Remember it is only $525 per driver for up to 20 laps under the lights at Lowe's!

All other reception attendees will be transported by bus to the Speedway beginning about 5:30pm for the 6-9pm Opening Reception and Newsletter & Website Awards. (The awards will be about 8pm.) The reception room adjoins a viewing area to witness the driving participants taking their laps in NASCAR race cars on the Lowe's track below.

Saturday is a full day of club enrichment starting with the Annual General Meeting at 8am for delegates, board members, directors, and non-voting guests who want to learn more about the business issues of JCNA. Following the meeting will be the second seminar series: 2:30-3:30pm Club Publications, 4-5pm Club Management, and 3-5pm Upgrades for Older Marques.

The final weekend event is the awards banquet and program, held at the hotel. The speaker for the evening will be Mike Epley, Director of the Appalachian Consortium, who will tell how stock car racing has grown from the dirt tracks and backyards of the South to the multi-million dollar enterprise it is today. JCNA Awards Chair, Kurt Rappold, will be presenting the national Concours and Slalom Awards to conclude the banquet.

Throughout the weekend, the Carolina Jaguar Club members invite you to enjoy a bit of Southern faire and conversation in their hospitality suite. Every tried a dip made from Bone Sucking Sauce? They'll have that and no telling what else! One thing they guarantee all 2003 AGM attendees: a warm North Carolina welcome and a healthy heaping of Southern hospitality!
