Ownership and Provenance
This vehicle was built for the Canadian market without air conditioning, electric antena, or passenger door outside mirror. Initially sold by Manotick Motors Ltd. in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on 9th November, 1973, it was purchased by the current owner (the 2nd owner) on or about Oct 1, 1976. Between 1976 and 2001, the vehicle was registered in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Tennessee. Since 2001, the vehicle has been registed and maintained in Arizona.
Documentation includes service records, owner’s manual, original parts and service books, and Heritage Certificate.
The 5-digit vehicle odometer shows 05200 miles, but the true mileage is 105,200. This mileage is reasonably correct as the odometer has worked over the life of the vehcle with the exception of short periods when repair parts were being obtained. The current ower drives the vehcle almost daily, accumulating 1,500 to 2,000 miles per year.
Condition and Maintenance
Unrestored but meticulously maintained to original specifications when possible.
Engine professionally rebuilt (2019–2020) by Classic Jaguar, Austin, TX to their Stage 1 specifications, including gas-flowed heads, performance camshaft, light weight pistons and flywheel, headers, and 9.5 compression. A new clutch assembly was also fitted. Classic Jaguar estimate modifications result in an additional 70–80 HP.
Rear suspension upgrades include Koni shocks, uprated springs, and poly bushings. Rear brakes rebuilt by Classic Jaguar in parallel with engine rebuild. Front suspension upgrades includes poly bushings, solid steering rack mounts, and Koni shocks.
Recent maintenance (2024–2025) includes new battery, Stromberg carburetors rebuilt, complete ignition system replacment, clutch master and slave cylinders replaced, radiator expansion tank replaced, and new seat belt webbing. Tires are blackwall Dunlop SP Sport ER70VR15 (replacing the OEM 205/70VR15 Aquaet tires) with inner tubes, supplied by Coker Tire in September, 2024.
Interior features in excellent condition. All instruments work. OEM Kienzle clock looses 2 minutes per day, OEM British Leyland AM/FM radio works but with very poor sound quality.
Note: Owner has attempted to make upgrades reversible and sale includes many OEM parts.
Known Issues/Areas for Attemtion
Complete car exterior was painted with chrome off in early 1980's. The trunk lid and rear fenders were repainted around 2015. Paint shows chips and cracks, especially on the bonnet, and there are recent paint scratches to the passenger door.
Hardtop needs refurbishment (original, rare, included), new rear window (still in shipping box) included.
Most emissions controls (gulp valve, carburetor by-pass valves, temperature compensators, temperature sensing units, carbon cannister, etc.) are non-functional (common for this model/year). All exterior lights function, but interior lights are inconsistent.
This vehicle is ready to be enjoyed or taken to the next level by its new caretaker.
