We are do a frame up restoration on a 1970 E-type convertible. What are the best wheels and tires for the car, looking to keep the car as original as possible, but willing to upgrade the items that really offer improvements.

I did this about 16 years ago by getting a new set of Dayton Wire wheels and AVON tires. I chose to get Stainless Steel Spokes and slightly wider wheels (205's are the limit). After the 16 years NO rust on the spokes and the chrome has cleaned up well. The tires are OK but I may need a new set just because of age and a bit of dry rot. Wider profile gives you much better traction.
