Anybody know what the blinking red light by the shifter is? It seems to disable the vehicle. Only seems to happen to my wife. The car will not engage the stater and the light starts blinking. The only thing I can do is wait it out. After about 15 minutes it will start.

Guess I should have mentioned its a 98 XJR
It is almost certainly related to the car's security system and may be set off by a keyless remote that needs to be reset. check the owner's manual for more explanation.
