The passenger seat heat switch does not work. Before I begin investigating, have any of you experienced this problem? What did you do to fix it?

I'd take a straightforward approach. Start at the fuse for that circuit and work back to the seat.
1. Check the fuse (with meter or replace, not just visual check).
2. Check that there is power at the fuse block. If no power, trace back from there.
3. Check that there is power at the hot side of the switch.
4. Check the switch, i.e., if you hit the switch, is there power on the switched side at the switch?
5. Check for power at the seat connection.
Along the way, check all connections, clean and refit. If power drops out at any point, suspect a break and check continuity of that segment. If there is power on the hot side of the switch but no power if you hit the switch, replace it. Until you find out where the break is, it is hard to know what to fix.
