I have just purchased a 59 XK150S from a dealer in LA and have no idea of its recent past. I believe it was in a collection in Chicago for a few years and has been driven very little. The engine seems good, compression good, oil pressure good, no smoke in the exhaust. I have read many blog discussions on oil. The only consistent thing is - do NOT use synthetic. But others are saying straight 30 weight and some say 20W50 Kendall or Castrol. I would sure appreciate any input as I have no idea how long this oil has been in the car. It appears to have some oil color left so it has not been run a lot.
Also gas additives. Should we be adding a lead substitute for the gas?
