What a turnout... close to 20 cars and 29 drivers... all having fun ! this is really what club activities are all about... FUN... and you can't argue with the clock or with a cone squished under your car...

Ginger Corda of JCOF did a terrific job or orgnizing this one... great location, at an aircraft museum.

Gary Hagopian came close to beat Art Dickenson's JCAN record, with a 39.111, just under 2/10... and under Art's watchful eye since he flew in from British Columbia... There was tension after lunch when Gary took his final run of the season... with both of them wishing each other good luck!

Team Predator was there with David Hinton driving his HSR winning XK120 racer, and Larry Ligas in his modified XK8... they also brought a Bugeye sprite racer...

for me, the real treat was a run in Gary's car... wow... it felt like a workout because the sitting position was wrong but the handling is unbelievable... that e-type has so much grip, I ran a low 44 without even trying... vs a 44.970 in my car with its 15x6 street PZeros... phenomenal !

A big thank you to Ginger who put this event together... unfortunatly she could only do a run before bailing out, litterally, having suffered an electrical melt down... couldn't do anythign to revive the car, some damage to the harness behind the iginition switch... all caused by a fan overide wire pinched in the air filter box. she also did a run in my car... with me as a passenger... it felt darn fast when you're hanging on in the passenger seat !

No pictures yet, I'll have them tonight... She already has the results in

Ginger,

SMOKE those tires, girl!! Great shot. The car looks HOT! Sorry to hear about the electrical glitch (or gremlin that sabotaged you). Pascal has thrown down the gauntlet on your behalf already for next year over on the E-type list on Jag-lovers. Says he rode with you, you're really smooth, and that Carol better watch out for you next year. Well, just so you know, her nickname around here is "Marian Andretti".

Congrats on running what sounds like a great event. Great pictures and look forward to reading the article.

All our best,

Okay, we have written an article now. I'll send it.

Warren, we were using timers, and I wish you could have been here, too.
The whole event was great, and the lunch was a necessity (all day slalom) and the P51 was brought out by the owner for a tour and he couldn't be heard over our cars/tires and so we had to take a break.

We started at 8am (setting up) and didn't stop until after 4pm. Had no extra time, really, and all the cars had all the runs they wanted (except mine).

Gee, quit cracking the whip will ya? I've got company and have to cook for Thanksgiving, and it's my dad's birthday, and and and.....

So give me a break (it's almost done).

Art says we don't have time for no stinking article.

Pascal & Ginger,

Sounds like you had a phenomenal event! Really wish I could have been part of it!

Were these times with automatic timing or hand-held stop watches?

You took a lunch break during the runs? ? ? That doesn't sound like a strategy calculated to maintain focus and concentration!

What were the mods to Larry Ligas' XK8?

We'll be looking for the pictures; thanks for the report!

Regards,
Warren
