Hello all. I have a 1996 XJS (last year) with 53,000 miles. Runs and looks great. Is there any inherent mechanical weakness in this car I should be aware of ? Or just improvements over original factory parts ? Thanks for any advice. Rick

In general all the normal maintenance you would have with any vehicle without seeing service records.
Only a guess, but it would be a straight six since the majority were that.
The v12 would be different and very rare.
If the cam cover is painted silver with green lettering that is probably the most bullet proof Jaguar engine ever up to that point. The earlier six cylinder motors with ribbed cam covers are slightly less so.
They had an occasional problem with blown head gaskets.
That era had really good rust preventative which earlier cars did not.
I hope that gives you enough info so you can enjoy it.
