In June of this year, I took my 02 X-Type to the dealer because I was losing antifreeze from my coolant reservoir. They replaced the reservoir and it ran fine. A few weeks ago, I noticed I was losing antifreeze again because my heater wwas only blowing cold air. I checked under the hood and sure enough, I had no coolant in the overflow tank. When I poured some in, I saw dripping underneath. Brought it back to the dealer to have them replace what I thought was a defective part and they said I blew my head gasket. The car only overheated the first time I brought it to them in June, and when it did, I pulled over and had AAA tow it the rest of the way.
I've asked SO many mechanics (and friends who are pretty savvy with cars) to help me replace the gaskets, but everyone has turned me down. Even after I tell them I'll buy my own parts and help with the job (I consider myself mechanically inclined for a female). I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out what to do. Dealer tells me I mind as well buy a new car. But I don't want to get rid of it, I love that car. I worked really hard to get it and no one in my area will buy it anyway because they consider our cars to be a pain in the ***. It seems like the longer I have it, the more expensive the repairs are getting. I'd try to do it myself as a project if I had 2nd car, but this is my only car at the moment.
Any suggestions? If I should get rid of it, anyone willing to or know someone willing to purchase the car from me to take a stab at making it run smooth again?
Any and all ideas are welcome! Thanks fellow X-Type Lovers!

It would help if we knew what area you lived in. Head gaskets are not that involved--if in fact that is the issue.
