Is a Series III instrument panel lighting rheostat compatible with a Series II? I bought my Series II without the under scuttle casing and therefore, without a rheostat. I found a Series III casing, but the rheostat has 4 prongs, and my Series II has only 3 wire ends... is there anyway to wire it right? Thanks.

Hi Will,
I think they're the same rheostat. The ser2 rheostat has 4 spade terminals as well. One is just left unused with the three wires. I'm not sure without yanking the underscuttle out of my car to have a look, but it should be easy enough to see which wire is bringing power from the fusebox and which ones are recieving power to the lights. Connect the wire from the fuse box to one side of the rheostat and the others to the other side. That should work. Because of their different locations, the knobs are different form ser2 to ser3. The ser2 knob is not as wide but is deeper. You might have to engineer the ser3 knob a little for it to work in the underscuttle mounting.
