Hi
I am just about to buy my first real jag (I already have a parts car, a series III XJ6) and it needs a small weld in the floorpan...nothing serious.
I was wondering if anyone out there with welding equipment would teach me how to weld with an electric welder please?

THanks very much
Phil

If you're not familiar or experienced with welding, I wouldn't tackle welding on the car just yet. Like any technical craft, welding has a lot of art to the science.
I learned to weld by taking a class at a local tech college. This is probably the cheapest and best way to do it. You get the maximum learning for the minimum price. I took a summer school course, so spent 3 hours a day welding, but the course was only a few months long.
The other advantage of this tactic is that you will have access to some very expensive welding equipment, and it is highly likely that the school will let you bring your components in and weld them there.
I did the very same thing to build some specialty tools for a car project. I focused my school training on the type of welder I planned on eventually buying (TIG), and welded all my projects on it.
This made using my personal TIG a breeze. But the school also exposed me to other types of welding, and I took an interest in Oxy/Acetylene and bought one of those too!
