I sent your question to the mechanic doing the restoration of my XK140 because we are currently installing the restored dash. Here is his reply.
"Don't bother changing to LED unless your car is converted to negative ground . Reason: LED bulbs are polar sensitive and will not work in a positive ground system. I just went through this. Sorry for the bad news."
