I have an 88' XJS V-12 that has the typical low oil pressure at idle when warm problem. Engine has about 80,000 miles and runs fine otherwise. From youtube videos I see it looks like this was a design problem from new due to lack of oil volume capacity of the oil pump. Sounds like even with a expensive stock new pump and bearings, it will still have the problem. Has anyone tried installing an external electric oil pump to assist the engine driven pump? I have a nice new large Mallory fuel pump like those used on drag racing cars. It is set at 32 PSI constant pressure. Could plumb it in to pull oil from the sump and pump it into the engine oil system to help maintain pressure. Comments please.
