Not that I'm complaining to get a personal (!) letter from Dick Maury, but my local membership chairperson is trying to figure out why I got said letter, mentioning quite nicely that I have NOT paid my dues as of 10APR2010 (and I got the letter today, 17MAY2010), when, although I was a tad late this year with my dues payment, the club did receive said dues in February of this year, I have a current membership card, and new roster for the year.

Is this just a glitch?

Thanks.

Not offended, just puzzled.
I tried to formulate the writen verbiage carefully so as not to infer any emotional baggage.

Good explanation, and I'll pass it along.

Dave, I appreciate your response and know that the letter was not intended to offend. I tend to take action rather than wait and see what happens. In forming the database of members to send this letter out to, we had to choose a date to call it and that was April 1. When our membership chair returned from the AGM, there were three clubs that just sent in their roster of renewing members. Do realize that this is due by Jan 1. There are still renewals coming in and yours is posted on the latest. However, with as many as did not renew, I sent out the inquiry letter to see if I could find out why we had lost membership. The reasons are varied at this point but they just started coming in yesterday. A few had just been delayed. Sending your renewal to your club is one thing. The club then has to send it to our membership chair at the national level..Sometimes there is a delay. This is one of the items that is high on my list to improve over the rest of this year. Hopefully everyone will see a change by the time next spring rolls around and membership renewals start coming in. We appreciate you and everyone else renewing and hope you find some of the changes in the JCNA over the next year or so to be noticeable.
