Wow! Thanks for the great pictures of the frame rails, Cliff. These rust holes look like they could be detected from the outside with a little digging with a sharp tool even if they were covered by black paint.
I suppose the new ones cost you a couple of grand? Did you coat the interior of the new ones before installing them? What did you use to coat them on the inside ? I have had suggestions of "linseed oil" " , "boiled linseed oil", "Wax" of some type (Cornuba?") and a few other wax based compounds as well as petrolium based rust stoppers. I would like to know what you decided on...
