My 03 STR is stripped down and the supercharger's out. We're going to start reinstalling but on another forum, I read a suggestion that the rear bolt on the supercharger could be slotted to
allow slipping the supercharger in after reinstalling the intake elbow. Some folks say this saves some frustration getting bolts started etc.

while the idea sounds good, my helper, George Camp, questions whether slotting and not being able to torque it down well may not be a great idea since the supercharger has a long snout and there's significant torque on the supercharger belt. He's thinking that can put a lot of pressure on the two front supercharger bolts.

We're inclined not to slot and put in the extra time and effort unless we have strong feedback that the slotting is a reasonably safe approach.

Any tips in making reinstallation go smoother are welcome.

Thank you, gents,

I was inclined to reinstall without slotting, too. Next issue is supercharger oil, following refill, leaking from the snout when the supercharger snout sits downhill. This is fun stuff.

Hi Rob,

Sorry, been tied up with Father's Day and our upcoming F-Type Launch event.

I'm gonna back George on this one too, though maybe for additional reasons. I'm on board with him completely, but I also have a long standing work philosophy. That is, once I'm done with a job, other than the witness marks you may find on bolts or nuts, you should not be able to tell I was ever there. Everything back the way I found it, every fastener, cable clip, wire tie [lovingly called 'Jaguar Bolts'], and fir tree back in it's proper place.

So I guess I'm the wrong guy to ask. I'd always put it back the way it was.

Good luck!
