here we go again...

what's the point of having rules, discussing them, writing proposal, having delegates vote on them if we don't follow them.

you supposedly can't sanction an event within 14 days of major event (regional/biennial) yet we have North Carolina holding a concours and Slalom on the week end of the JCC in Phoenix... and South Carolina 4 days before... (although that one is marked sanction pending, I don't know if it's been approved yet).

Not only this is sending out the wrong message to the members and to the JCC Sponsors... but it's also causing problems for those in the region who wanted to go to both... Personally, I always go to the SC week end and was looking forward to it this year... especially if they have a rally and slalom... won't work this year. I'm sure others will feel the same...

There are only 3 chances for Slalom in the South East this year... two are now gone...

not good...

Pascal,
Our mistake! Our sanction request has been withdrawn. At our planning meeting, last Saturday, we didn't even mention the JCC and one of the members in attendance is going. I took a copy of the JCNA events calender with me and never bothered to look at it! With our focus on the AGM, I believe it was an unfortunate oversight.

Harry,

the JCNA online calendar IS OPEN to non sanctioned events, it was one of the first thing I did a year ago thinking it would be much better to have one source for all events. It should help avoiding conflicts and is also great to get non members to come to events and hopefully join the club. We've gotten a few members like that.

Of course, it means that clubs need to take a minute to add their non sacntioned events to the calendar. some do... some don't.... pass the word and make sure your club events are on. It's self serve and only takes 1 minute or less...

Last year we had a conflict with our neighboring club, JCSNE. On their concours weekend, we had a tour. And their Concours should have had some of our members entering.

We are now trying to avoid that by one on one contact, newsletter editor to newsletter editor, events chair ot events chair, etc.

As our schedules are set, we check for events in neighboring clubs. unfortunately, not all events are JCNA sanctions and do not appear on the JCNA web site.

Sanctioned JCNA events in neighboring clubs just shouldn't happen.

Pascal,

I have to agree with you. There should not be any other events sanctioned the weekend of the JCC. Obviously, the support of the entire JCNA should be behind making the JCC as successful as possible. With the AGM coming up soon, perhaps this is a subject for discussion amongst the directors -- should there be a central calendar coordinator who reviews all sanctions by the individual program coordinators?

You would hope that each program coordinator would look at the calendar before issuing a sanction for a given event, to assure that there are no conflicts. But apparently, this is not happening or it is too easy for conflicting programs to be missed. Someone should be looking at the overall JCNA calendar of events before final sanctions are issued to assure that things like this don't happen.
