A question regarding TIRES has recently arisen for ME during judging in the Special Division.
In Edition 10.1- of the JCNA Concours Rule Book, it states in Chapter VIÔÇô JudgesÔÇÖ Guide for Scoring Non-Authenticity ÔÇôthat ÔÇ£Non-Authenticity is not Judged in Special DivisionÔÇØ. This would appear to also apply to the selection of Tire SIZE, as in Chapt. VI ÔÇô F- note n- states ÔÇ£Tires (Applies to Champion Division Entries onlyÔÇØ) and in Chapt. V ÔÇôSect. C -9. Tires - there is discussion of Tire size as it pertains only to Champion & Driven Divisions.
On at least one occasion I have encountered where the ÔÇ£over-sizedÔÇØ tires mounted on the Rear of an XK-E would NOT fit into the Tire-well of the Boot. Since in Chapt. V. ÔÇôSect. E ÔÇôBoot ÔÇô it states that the Boot is ÔÇ£Judged in Special Division only for condition & cleanlinessÔÇØ, it would appear to me- that the requirement that the Spare be in the Boot (to be judged), or that the Spare match the ÔÇ£road-wheelsÔÇØ does not apply in the Special Division. Is this Correct ??

I have also noted in my reading of the current JCNA Concours Rule Book, that the previous ÔÇ£non-authenticityÔÇØ ruling regarding ÔÇ£Red-LineÔÇØ tires no longer applies in the Driven Division ÔÇôsee also Chapt. VI- Sect. F- note n. ÔÇôTires (ÔÇ£Applies to Champion Division Entries onlyÔÇØ).
Is this also CORRECT ??

Jerry:

Your interpretation of the Special Division Classes regarding authenticity standards is correct, see Chapter II section 4, A. There is no authenticity standard for any of the Special Division Classes (pg.II-7). This is due to the very nature of the cars in those classes.

Your interpretation of the tire rule is also correct, see Chapter II section 3, A-a about tires for Driven Class (pg. II-5).
