For my XJS I was wondering what type of plugs I should get from NGK. The V-Power or the G-Power Platinum? Thanks for in advance for any input.

Hi, I had V grooves in Silver for several years, when the platinums last year became less costly I bought a set. The V Groove plugs were almost like new, my car rides a trailer to shows and only drives the show grounds and the slalom courses so not too many miles. The platinums should last even longer, and the akward job of changing them will be less often. I also have an MSD 6A ignition box installed and the later small single coil, the car starts very quick in this configuration. If you would like to do this conversion I could help with wiring details if needed.

I used the NGK V-power in my '89 XJS when I had it, and use them in my '72 E-type V-12, and they work great. Don't know that there is really any advantage to getting the platinum plugs, other than they are much more expensive. Just be sure that you get the right plug and gap it properly. Especially if you have the Marelli ignition, don't enlarge the gap. Make sure it is at .025". There has been a lot of discussion about people having problems (like engine fires) from increasing the gap to .035 trying to get a "hotter" spark.
