Hello I have recently purchase my dream car, A 1987 XJS.
I have a few questions I hope somebody can help me with.
I am going to be rebuilding the motor ( main bearing went )
and while I am doing that I would like to do a few modifications to it without spending alot of money right now, what would be some good modifications to make at this time ? It was suggested that i could bore out the cylnders a bit, is this advisable and if so how much can then be bored out ?

also I have been trying to find some aftermarker wheels for it and there does not seem to be anything available for the 1987. I tried a set of wire wheels and they looked great but would not hold air, I had 7 replaced in the first 8 months and finally gave up on them.

Thanks in dvance for any help and suggestions.

Before you dig into the XJS, go to www.jag-lovers.org and follow the links to the library or XJS-lovers site and download "The Book" by Kirby Palm. It's free, over 600 pages the last time I looked, and loaded with amazing information about the XJS, the V-12 engine, etc. Don't turn a wrech without it.

Also, do a quick web search for the website of Wayne Estrada. Wayne has written many articles on getting the most out of an XJS and has various do-able suggestions on how to get more horsepower and overall better performance and reliability out of the car.

Last, you might want to contact Coventry West. They are a parts supplier for later model Jaguars including the XJS, but also do a lot of work on the cars as well. They may have some suggestions for you of upgrades you should be making, and are also an excellent source of parts. And if you are looking for used parts for the XJS, contact Stefan Roundy (stefanratbealenet.com). He parts out XJS's and E-types.

Hope that helps.
