The ABS/Trac Off light is lit on my 2001 XK8. I understand it could be due to dirty sensors, broken sensor cables or broken solder joints within the ABS module. I cleaned the sensors and still have the light. Does anyone know how to diagnose what's causing the problem? My OBD2 reader shows no faults.

Thanks for your inputs. One of our club members has one of the high end code readers. It showed C1095 Hydraulic Pump fault. Researching the various web sites finds that the ABS module has two circuit board solder connections connecting the hydraulic pump. These are prone to failing. One can either send the module out for repair or DIY by opening the case and re-soldering the terminals. I'll be doing the latter.

Pat, your OBDII reader will not read the ABS system because OBDII only deals with emission related systems. ABS won't make you a polluter, so it's not accessed by that reader. You need to have the fault codes read by someone with a better, read, more expensive scantool. I think you will likely find a C1095 pump motor fault in the ABS/Tracs module. If you do, the solder joint repair is probably the fix.

Cheers,

Pat,
Did you disconnect the battery? If not, try removing a battery lead and reconnect. It may clear the fault.
Good luck,
