The Lyons Roar

Posted By SE12 on 18 Mar 2011
This month the VJC, or at least your hard working officers, have been  taking a break after our hugely successful Concours in June at the Williamsburg Winery in Williamsburg. Last month’s Lyons Tales had a complete write up with some pics which you can access via the LT website if you missed it. You can also access Rod Taylor’s 350 + photo array at http://vajc.smugmug.com/Three-if-by-Jagaur/ .Our August VJC event will be a Joint Event on August 8 with the SVCC, starting with a convoy drive along scenic RT250 to a Classic and British car show at the Grace Estate Winery near Charlottesville.  This will be our promised “Western Region” VJC event, balancing our June “Eastern Region” Concours, albeit at a somewhat later date. The convoy starts at the Short Pump Starbucks at 10 am.  Please RSVP and provide your cel # if you plan to convoy so we know to look for you. Registration for the Winery car show itself is now filled, but you will have just as much fun joining the convoy, meeting folks, kicking tires at the show, perhaps enjoying a little vino and being a spectator.  The winery is in beautiful Blue Ridge foothill country and is reputed to be really spectacular, with good wines.  There will be food there too.  As a final treat on the way home, Bill and Mary Sihler have offered to host a refreshment break at their home in Keswick, just off Rt 250 E.  More details have been sent out via VJC googlemail, and a reminder will be sent in early August.    Our September VJC event will be to support the big CVBCC  “Classics on the Green” show at  New Kent Winery on Sunday Sept  20th. The theme is “Cars you’ve never heard of”, my Austin-Swallow has been invited and I am hoping my intermittent engine knock will be resolved in time for the show.  There are numerous pre-show events so look up the COTG website http://www.classicsonthegreen.com/   for details.  We will have our usual VJC tent on the field on Sunday for respite and enjoyment.  Please remember to register your car if you would like to park on the show field, as anyone can attend, but the COG is a pre-registration-only show.  So, bring your Jaguar and join us regardless of whether you would like to be in the show or come out for the day. Have a great summer and drive those Jags. Jaguarian Salutations, - David Harrison, VJC President
