Hi All,

New to the forum and I think it's great! Lots of info and some beautiful Jags! Just wondering what the sentiment was about Jaguars modified with Chevy engines? I know this was fairly common not long ago..

Thanks for the input!

It's all up to the indivdiual preference but the sale price of a lump is way down compared to an original. What about the modifed class in JCNA Concours Rules - do they not cover lumps?

Chuck: Most purists generally look upon 'lumped' Jaguars, that is Jaguars with non-Jaguar engines in them, with disdain. The reason being the Jaguar engine is a wonderful engine when properly maintained and cared for and its replacement with a 'lump' of iron from Detroit simply detracts from the essence of the car.

Not everyone here feels that way and I am not trying to paint those who generally post here in that manner. However, folks on this site tend to focus on original and 'restored as the factory made them' cars.

You will probably get more information at jag-lovers.org. That site has about 15 very active forums, one of which deals strictly with Lumps.

Best Regards, John
