I was out test riding my 2+2 a few weeks ago after flushing the cooling system. The car backfired once and a short time later quit running. The car would start but shut off as soon as you released the key. I notice gas coming out of one of my carbs so I replaced the jet o-ring and that stopped the leak. But I still have the same problem-it seems to be starting and as soon as you release the key it shuts down. Any ideas on where to start?

Good job Mike-- I ignored it was a 70. Just out of curiousity how many bad ballast have you seen. I have not seen one on an E in my 35 years. Have you had a different exp. Guess so. George Camp

It was the ballast resistor. I was so focused on the leaking gas I thought it was carb related. I never looked anywhere else. Thanks!!
