Hi
I'm from Montreal/Canada and I just bought a pre-owned 2002 X-Type 2.5 v6 manuel with 86 000 km or about 49k miles. I paid 22grand for it and I love it...(it's my first Jag)The only thing that is bugging me is that every body I know says that I just bought 22grand worth of headachs...I didn't buy it from a Jag dealer because there is no warranty on it so as you can see if what people are saying is true...I really have a problem. I invested every pennie I had in buying the car so I don't have money to fix it if it brakes!!!The dealer gave me a good price because the gaz tank cover was broken, the passenger mirror was broken and the ashtray cover was broken but he fixed everything...He gave me a 2 month warranty and lemon exchange warranty. So to all you Jag drivers,if you guys could give me any advice, it would be really appreciated!!!should I bring him back my baby jag?

Dear Jay,
If you have any problems, please contact me, it will cost you little for repairs, I did miracles with my VDP 87, Sovereign 92 and my 01, S type. My first question, your car should be under warranty up to 80K plus a 6 years rust protection from Jaguar? No! And forget about those so called experts, they have no ideas what they are talking about. I did 170K whit one without any problems, including winter, beat this with a Nissan!

Well, Jay, I'd suggest you start by looking at who the people that you describe as "everybody I know" are. Are these car experts? Are they mechanics with extensive experience with Jaguars? Are they X-Type owners?

Next, why not look into the realities of the X-Type. Start by getting your hands on the January 2005 issue of Jaguar World monthly magazine, which has an extensive article on buying a used X-Type.

My 2002 X-type seems to be ok. I have a friend who has not one, but two 2002 X-Types, and both seem to be ok. Maybe we are just lucky, and "everybody I know" understands all this much better than any of us...
