I have a 95 XJS. The power door locks do not work. I have verified the the Door Lock Control Module is OK, and have isolated the problem to the Jaguar installed security system. It is this system that controls the door logic and generates the needed logic and control signals. It also controls a plethora of other signals, such as disabling the car, honking the horn, blinking the lights, and so on. None of these functions work.

Has anyone attempted to test/fix the security system, or is this beyond an owner's skill level and tools? Does anyone have a replacement for sale, or know where I can get one?

Well, the weekend has passed. I can report my findings on the power door lock.

I removed the passenger access panel below the dashboard, and looked for the door control module. No luck. Looked for the appropriate wires (O-R, O-U, O-W, O-G, B-K) no luck. Frustrated, I removed the driver's door inside panel. Used my test light to safely look for presence of voltages. None present. Verified the test light with the driver's door courtesy light. Dragged out an ohm meter. All five pins on the connector were ground. Amazing. somewhere, somehow, the 5 wires in the hardness are tied to ground. None were an open circuit.

When you are not the first owner of a car, you never know. In all other aspects, this car is a keeper. With the sole exception of the door locks, everything works, and works well.

OK. Here is what I think happened. A prior owner (do not know who) had an issue with the door lock or security system. Do not know which. After an investment to isolate and repair, they just gave up. The two modules were removed, and the wires tied up and grounded (even though I cannot find them).

So, to get to the solution I really wanted (door key is difficult to operate), I went on line, found a $32 replacement power door lock kit (4 actuators, controller, 2 FOBs, wiring) and ordered. When it arrives, I plan to install the kit in the driver's door, steal power from the power seat switch cluster, and install the controller inside the door. That is all I need. A FOB to operate the driver's door lock. The other three actuators are spares to me, and since I cannot find the hardness, I guess I no longer care.

Again, you are a pleasure, and I greatly appreciate your help with the instructions you provided regarding the trouble light.

Bob,

For the time being, I'd forget about the orange/white and orange/green wires. Those are the actual power circuits for the lock actuators, the module powers them one way for locking and reverses it for unlocking.
I think the best thing to do is grab a standard test light, and with everything connected properly, ground the test light and touch the probe to the two other wires you mentioned. [Using a test light will allow you to test the circuit operation yet won't short anything out if you touch the wrong thing, it will just light the test light] At the Door Lock Module in the RH "A" pillar, touch the orange/blue and the orange/red wires and you should be able to lock and unlock the doors at will. If that doesn't happen, then you need to make sure the purple wire at the module has battery power and the white wire has power when the ignition is on.

At that point you will have what you need to know to tell if the security system is the culprit in your case or not.

Good questions.

1) When door is locked with paddle, other door does nothing.

I do not have the remote.

Based on wiring diagrams, I am guessing that when wiring (OU/OR - orange blue-red) are individually grounded, solenoid activates. Also, the other two wires (OW/OG - orange white-green) send signals to opposite door to activate.

None of these functions work.

Can you tell me if it is possible to remove security module, and GROUND (one at a time) the OU and OR wires (without destroying the car or starting a fire). Also, is there a way to simulate the 4V pulse on the OW/OG wires to tell the system to activate the opposite door.

How have you verified the lock module is OK??

If you lock or unlock a door with the paddle, does the other door always follow??

When using the remote, does the security system arm properly but not lock the doors?
