On 3/12/2022 the Seattle Jaguar Club had a St Patrick's Drive from Port Gamble to Gig Harbor where we met for dinner at the Dunnagan Irish Pub & Brewery. What other Jaguar clubs could have a ferry ride before their drive? Brian Case at the railing on the Edmonds to Kingston ferry. Everyone met in Port Gamble to start the drive. L-R, John Voigt, Kent and Lisa Wiken, Brian's back and Tom Hilton. We were all interested in Art Foley's 1961 series I E-Type. I forget the number but it was a very early production car. A look inside Art Foley's series I E-Type. We stopped along the drive at this Hood Canal Visitor Center. Vehicle on left is Craig and Wendy's new F Pace SVR, then Kent and Lisa Wikens XF and Art Foley's E-Type. Tom Hilton and Margaret Ames 2004 XK8 convertible. We did run into some rain along the way but it was towards the end and not too bad. What was unusual was that all of us were able to stay together from beginning to end of this Hood Canal drive. Red Jaguar in the parking lot belonged to Roy's friend Bill Hay. Brian Case enjoying the conversations! Back to the camera is Ann Alness then Margaret Ames, Cheryl and Kurt Jacobson, Bob Alness and Tom Hilton. L-R, Sue Kingston, Lisa and Kent Wiken, Craig and Wendy Duckering and Paul Petach. I think Paul had suggested this event but Kent did all the legwork to organize it. It was a great drive and good dinner. L-R, Bob Alness, Tom Hilton, Ann Alness and Margaret Ames. I liked their wood carved name plague. L-R, Roy Pringle, Ana Alvernaz, Art Foley, Brian Case, John Voigt and Roy's friend Bill Hay. We had a little fun, when Ana arrived late, our table all stood up and clapped for her. I just want to point out the woman at the back, at the next table. Her name is Majorie Brazier and her husband is Ian Mcfall. They arrived at the pub in their S-Type Jaguar and were very surprised to see the parking lot full of Jags! They were very interested to hear about our club and all the things we are doing. They have since paid their dues and joined the club and joined our event at LeMay Collection at Marymount.

On Feb19 2022 the Seattle Jaguar Club members met at Thomas Swayze's house to view his collection. He has the perfect estate to show off his collection! When we arrived Ray Papineau was there to help everyone get parked on the lawn. With Ray's help everyone was evenly lined up! Craig & Wendy Duckering posed for me in their new 2021 F Pace SVR, Eiger Grey color. I met Barrie and Karen Hutchison and got them to pose in front of their XJ Jaguar. Ray Papineau's red XJS and my Topaz S-Type. As people parked we gathered on the lawn and visited. Tom Swayze in the center. CJ & Leo Taflin on the left. Art Foley then Tom Hilton on the right. The first cars we saw in the collection were a 2011 XJL, a 2000 Vanden Plas and a 1967 340. Kurt starting to take pictures right away. The first car that Tom put on display for us was his 1950 Mk V Sedan. He gave us the highlights of the model and of his ownership. We all had time to gawk at it. And Tom answered any questions we had. The tool kit in the trunk is a great feature! John Voigt thinks so too! The front door opens opposite of most vehicles. What is everyone looking at? Oh, it must be the engine. The Mark V is an awesome Jaguar! Inside the garage we could see how organized Tom is. He does much of his own work on the vehicles! He told us about this 1989 XJS. It was on the lift for a tire change. Hidden in the back was a 1930 Model A Town Sedan. 1972 XJ6 in Carnival Red. L-R Craig & Wendy Duckering, Ray Papineau, Bob Alness, Bob Book. There was an old English phone booth with a working phone inside. Tom parked the Mark V on the circle drive. And the next vehicle he talked about was the 1967 340. Some of the members L-R Kurt Jacobson, Jeff Beatty, Barrie Hutchinson, Terry Mathisen, Ron Smith, Doug Jackson, Ken MacKenzie, Tom Bohn, Tom Swayze. Just because I haven't pointed him out anywhere else, Ehab Sahawneh is on the far right. After the 340 came the 2000 Vanden Plas The backseat has a lot of leg room. The next Jaguar Tom talked about was his 2011 XJ L The color, I think, was Black Cherry. Bob Alness and Bob Book in front of 1997 XK8. Engine of the XK8 We took a break and went inside for lunch. Tom had prepared a wonderful lunch with ham and potatoe salad and cole slaw. The cole slaw was different, with cranberries and pecan pieces. I loved it and had to ask for the recipe. L-R Ron Smith, Inger & Ulf Goranson and Richard Scott. Richard helped Tom host this event and was super thoughtful. It was an opportunity to visit with other club members. Margaret Ames and Cheryl Jacobson sitting at the counter with Tom Hilton behind Margaret. Just so you know Tanya Book also attended, she is in the back with the jaguar print top. L-R Karen & Barrie Hutchinson and Ken MacKenzie. Ron Smith and Craig Cootsona on the right, had a chance to chat. Roy Pringle on left and Tom Hilton on right. Tom Swayze on left and Karen Hutchinson on right. A vehicle that Tom did not bring out was a 1978 Rolls Royce. Rolls Royce memorabilia. The last car we viewed was a 1938 Rolls Royce Phantom III The interior had so much room! It was a fun end to a great presentation of a great car collection. We can't thank Tom and Richard enough for opening their home and garages to the club! Those headlights were huge!

On July 25, 2021 we met for an informal brunch at the Derby Restaurant in Seattle. Our Jags gathered close by in the parking lot. New members (seated) Nick & Sandy Bulpin talk with Lisa Wiken. It was a beautiful day to gather on the outside deck and catch up with old friends or meet new ones. Danny Lisa (left) talking with John Schwartz. Seated left to right, Brian Case, Kurt Jacobson, Ray Papineau and standing, Kurt Hrubant and Patty McKerney. Left to right, John Blackburn, Kent Wiken, Trish Blackburn and Lisa Wiken. Left to right, Chris Eseman, Debbie Read, Glen Read and Arlayne Eseman. Lou Copeland (left) and Will Baker (right) are deciding what to order for brunch. Seated, Kent and Lisa Wiken, standing, Sharon and Brian Case. New member John Schwartz and his XK His license plate describes what he does for a living. Lou Copeland and Will Baker with their XJ6. There was also a tour of The Shop which is a garage storage facility that includes areas to work on your vehicle. There is an E Type behind those tires Lots of Classic GM cars here. The Shop had an amazing number of cars being stored there. As Kurt would say, this is a opossum's view of an XK140 As the story goes, Macklemore came one night and parked his Maybach outside and drove his vintage limo to some gala event. Also belonging to Macklemore was a "moose" motorcycle. XK150 Jaguar Trish Blackburn with Morgan Motorcycle The Shop also had storage for motorcycles like these Ducatis. Kurt Hrubant and Patty McKerney looking at a Cobra A very rare 1954 Sutton Jaguar special. Glad to see an E-Type stored in the garage. The Shop also offered a mechanic that could help you with your repairs or you could pay him to do the work for you. There was a doorway hidden behind a bookcase that led to a cigar lounge. This F1 Racing Icon, a 1962 Scarab F1 Race Car with the first and only Rear-Engine Buick V8. The famous British Racing Team, Chuck Daigh and Lance Reventlow competed with the Scarab from 1958-1962.

On 2/5/22 the Seattle Jaguar Club had a Valentine Sweetheart Drive that started at the chocolate factory, Boehm's Candies, in Issaquah. Club members got into two groups for a tour. L-R Brian Case, Sue Kingston, Lisa Kent, Cheryl Jacobson, Samah Sous, Ehab Sahawneh, John & Trish Blackburn. Debra & Tom Bohn Recent new members, Alex & Heather Weinert arrived in their E-Type. I always try to get people to pose with their car and Alex & Heather obliged. I love their hats! We had a lineup of E-Types. Next to Alex & Heather's were the Cases, Ehab & Samah's and the Blackburns. The last car is an Allante belonging to the Bohns. Nice photo of Ehab's car taken by Alex Weinert. Nice photo of the Blackburn's car taken by Alex. Sharon taking a photo of Ehab's car while Alex was taken a photo of her E-Type. I think most of us thought the tour was just of a candy factory but it included the home of Julius Boehm. He was quite a collector and had some interesting history. L-R Ehab, Samah, Lisa and Kent. Kent Wiken was responsible for organizing this Sweetheart Drive. It turned out to be a great adventure. The Blackburns listening to the tour guide. There was a very interested ceramic heater in the room. And a really old phonograph machine that played disks. And it worked. One room had a collection of hand-made dolls that were created by an employee of the chocolate factory. Each doll represented one of the employees. The kitchen of the home was interesting. I especially liked that the countertop had been built with a space where two ceramic tiles could be inlaid. And recipes had been written and fired on tiles that could be inserted where they would be used when cooking/baking. The garden outside was nice too. We also went into a chapel. We sat in the pews and listened to the tour guide give us some of its history. Wood carving on the wall in the chapel. The ceiling had a mural painting that depicted a famous Michelangelo's painting from the Sistine Chapel, The Creation of Adam. Trish looking up at that painting. There was also a beautiful marble statue, replica of Michelangelo's Pieta statue of Mary and Jesus. Here is a shot of Alex Weinert taking a picture of the statue and chapel. Alex had a real camera instead of a phone camera! And here is the photo Alex took. Finally we went into the chocolate factory and the tour guide gave us some history on the factory. Boehm had started his candy making in 1940 and still had some of the old equipment. That is one huge sheet of chocolate! If you look to the back wall you will see the device that is rolled across the sheet in one direction, then in the other, in order to quickly cut it into small bite-size pieces. Right of the tour guide are Heather & Alex Weinert and Lisa and Kent Wiken. A tour guide talking about on how they make their candies. They showed a video of these chocolates being hand-made. That swirl on the top of each one was made by a human swirling the chocolate on the top with their gloved finger. Chocolate comes in lots of shapes! This room is where they packaged up orders. On display were some special pieces like this Cinderalla coach and horses. Now that is one huge Easter Rabbit! And here are the carrots to feed to that rabbit! Some samples of custom orders. If you look to the right, you will see a box with a mouse for microsoft! Valentine hearts ready to go. Samah says "I'll take one". They were ready for the chocolate buying rush for Valentines Day. After the tour members got to visit and talk cars. Ehab was inspecting the recently installed headliner in Case's E-Type. The E-Types lined up. Back of Weinert's E Type. I have been trying to give up sugar and was interested in the sugar free options. I had never heard of Maltitol. I bought some in spite of the Adverse Effects warning! The warning did make me limit the intake and they did taste good! Everyone enjoyed visiting with the other members, and looking at their cars, while waiting for everyone to finish shopping. Everyone enjoyed visiting with the other members, and looking at their cars, while waiting for everyone to finish shopping. L-R Alex Weinert, Tanya and Bob Book and Lisa Kent. Some with bags of chocolate! Carol Jackson doing a taste test. Kent gave everyone some instructions as we prepared to drive into Issaquah historic town. We all stopped at an old time gas station in the quaint town of Issaquah. Everyone posed for a group shot. L-R the Bohns, Brian Case, Paul Petach & Sue Kingston, Lisa & Kent Wiken, Tanya Book, Margaret Ames & Tom Hilton, the Weinerts, Doug Jackson, Bob Book, Cheryl & Kurt Jacobson and finally, Trish & John Blackburn. I just now realized that Carol Jackson is missing! Where were you Carol? Tom Bohn with the old gas pumps. Ehab was giving some directions. Wonder what Sue and Tanya were discussing? Some of the members walked over to where there was an old train station and equipment. Now here is one of Alex Weinert's artistic photos. One you want to blow up and frame and hang on your wall! Ehab is still giving directions. Tom Hilton was trying to be funny. Margaret was amused. After leaving Issaquah we drove to Newcastle. It was a pleasant drive. Our destination was the Newcastle Golf Club. It looked like a castle on a hill. Paul Petach with Sue Kingston and her newly acquired 2009 XKR convertible. At the previous dinner at Mercato, Sue mentioned that she was looking for an XK. Brian forwarded an ad in BringATrailer and the rest is history! We had a late lunch at Calcutta Grill at the Newcastle Golf Club. Trish & John Blackburn were excited to play a game. And they were good at it, tying with the Books for first place. For entertainment we had all couples write down how they met and where they went on their first date. Then everyone tried to guess which answers went with which couple. Trish & John Blackburn, Paul Petach & Sue Kingston and Brian Case. For a first date Brian took Sharon snowmobiling at his house. They lived in Michigan. And John met Trish when his son was in her kindergarten class. Alex & Heather Weinert and Tom Hilton and Margaret Ames. Tom & Margaret first met at a Halloween party and she was a "black cat" and Tom was awestruck! Awwww…. Ehab Sahawneh and Samah Sous and Tanya & Bob Book. Tanya & Bob met on a blind date. Doug Jackson, Kurt & Cheryl Jacobson, Kent & Lisa Wiken and Carol Jackson. There you are Carol!! Paul Petach with Sue Kingston having a good time! Tried to take some glam shots in front of the castle. Brian in his E-Type 2+2. Not sure where Alex took this sunset photo, but it looks like a nice ending to an awesome Sweetheart Drive!

The Annual Pacific Northwest Historics Vintage Races at the Pacific Raceway was a great event. It is on the July 4th weekend every year. Definitely want to mark your calendar for next year. There was such a variety of cars in the car corral They were featuring the E-Type for its 60th anniversary. So Jaguars got to park right along the fence and it was a great spot to watch the races. It was a beautiful day and we could watch the races and socialize with other members or people looking at our jaguars. The display tent included two of our member's E-Types and a race car belonging to Mark Jones. The Blackburn's had their convertible in there and the Case's had their Coupe there. On Sunday Craig Shrontz added his BRG convertible E-Type to the display tent. Chuck & Lindsy Anderson packed a lot of stuff in the back of their E-Type. Here you can see them relaxing under the shade of their canopy with the Jaguar Racing flag flying. You can tell they have done this a time or two with their table & chairs, enjoying their picnic lunch. Chuck & Lindsy Anderson's 1964 E-Type attracted a lot of attention. It is good to see the younger generations being brought into the fold early! Mike Boyd brought his grandson Porter. Mike Boyd & Lynn Szalay in front of their 1970 E Type convertible. Mike & Porter getting ready to drive in the parade laps. Richard & Linda Desimone in their 1965 E-Type. They seemed to be having fun! Got to meet a former member, David Adelsman, shown with his 1986 XJ6. He said he is going to rejoin the club. Members Jay & Lori Dinnison, behind their 2016 F Type R This is when we all lined up for the parade laps. They had the E-Types first and then the rest of the Jaguars followed by everyone else. It was fun! Kent was able to get a shot of cars in front of him on the track during the parade laps. This is a great shot of the track taken by Kent Wiken. I will have to look for this spot next year! This is a look at the paddock. Craig Shrontz was actually there to enter in the races! Craig brought his Harrington Jaguar too. The car Craig raced is a 1960 Lola Mk1 Here is his #2 with other cars in Vintage Racing Motors tent. Great shot someone got of Craig in his Lola! Dr Ernie Nagamatsu in his Old Yeller II famous historic race car I like to photograph the rear-ends because it is helping me learn the models. This is Michael & Lynn's 1970 E-Type convertible. On 1/23/22 the Seattle Jaguar Club met for a tour of the Capitol in Olympia, followed by dinner at Mercato. The architecture on the buildings is amazing. A walk around the Capitol Mall included the John A Cherberg Building. This is the primary office building for the Senate. The Insurance Building was the second building to be constructed on the Capitol Campus. Winged Victory WWI Monument Close up of the statue The Capitol Mall included this fountain. And there was a sunken garden. There was a Law Enforcement Memorial. The memorial listed names of deceased going back to 1855! Waiting for our tour to begin, L-R Trish & John Blackburn, Margaret Ames & Tom Hilton, Curt Kyle, Brian Case, Tom Bohn. L-R Trish Blackburn, Lisa & Kent Wiken, Margaret Ames and Curt Kyle. Our tour guide, on the right, began telling us about the capital building. We did a lot of looking up. The ceilings were amazing works of art! Chandeliers hanging from the ceiling were by Tiffany. The tops of the columns and the rosettes on the ceiling had so much detail! The flower patterns here were gilded. All the state flags were represented. Part of our group here with the tour guide, below the rotunda. Inside, the tour guide told us about the different marble that was used in the capitol building. The marble walls, ornate ceilings and tiffany chandeliers were unbelievable! Close up of one of the crystal chandeliers. Door panels showed an early capital building. Here I have pasted together four other door panels that depicted different scenes. The chandelier hanging from the rotunda was very deceptive in size. We never would have guessed that it was 24 feet! Closer shot of the chandelier. This photo shows the angels that are near the top of the chandelier. These "small" statues are 4 feet tall! After the tour we heading to our cars and proceeded to dinner. The chosen restaurant in Olympia was Mercato. The Jaguars parked across the street from the restaurant. L-R, XK8 belonging to Tom Hilton & Margaret Ames, XF belonging to Wikens, S-Type belonging to Cases, F-Type belonging to Kurt Hrubant, XF belonging to Roy Pringle and XK120 belonging to Art Foley. The Wikens and Brian entering the Mercato. L-R John and Trish Blackburn, Margaret Ames and Tom Hilton L-R Tom Bohn, Lisa and Kent Wiken. Kent Wiken planned the tour of the Capitol Mall. Thank you Kent!! L-R Patty McKerney, Kurt Hrubant, Art Foley and Roy Pringle. L-R Brian Case, Sue Kingston, Paul Petach and Curt Kyle. Brian Case had planned the dinner at Mercato. A good time was had by all!

On 1/8/2022 the Seattle Jaguar Club held its Annual General Meeting at LeMay-America's Car Museum. Any Jaguars were allowed to park on the plaza right in front. Brian Case on left, discussing Ray Papineau's E-Type. Close up of engine in Ray's car. Lineup of Jaguars. Next to Ray's car is the Ware's S-Type, then the Wiken's XF, and Jacobson's XK. Case's S-Type on end. L-R, Hrubant's F Type, Weber's I Pace and the Book's E-Type. L-R, Andrew Hewitson, Roy Pringle, Art Foley, Brian Case. The D-Type Linx being unloaded. Art Foley, laying down on the job. Cheryl Jacobson and Brian & Sharon Case Nice car trailer belonging to Art Foley! Jaguars next to LeMay semi-truck. White glove treatment for the panelists cars that have been detailed for showing at LeMay. Helpers giving careful guidance to Art as he backs out of trailer. Everyone sighs with relief when car is on the ground. Roy Pringle is assigned task of keeping the car running while it warms up. I can't believe Kurt put this photo on the cover of the JagMag. I would have put the hood down if I had known. (Maybe it is better the hood stayed up.) Cars lining up to enter LeMay. Tony Grayson with his Project 8 followed by Art Foley and his D-Type. Art pulling inside behind Tony. Ehab's XK120 was the last one into LeMay. Cars lined up inside LeMay with the XJ220, then the Project 8, then the Lynx D-Type and the XK120. Ehab touching up his XK120. Cars on display with XJ220 in the front Inside the Auto Club room, Brian Case helped man the registration table. The venue had a maximum capacity of 60 people and it was sold out. It was interesting that LeMay did not have much in the way of Jaguars in the museum yet this room had two huge blowup photos of Jaguars. Kurt Jacobson, our outgoing president, was our moderator for the event. Kurt had the brilliant idea of holding the annual meeting in LeMay and having the panel discussion with members bringing their cars for display. To right of Kurt is the Curator of Collections at LeMay, Renee Crist, who led the panel discussion. Panelists L-R, Richard Desimone, Tony Grayson, Art Foley and Ehab Sahawneh. For her moderating the panel discussion Renee was presented with an Honorary Membership to the Seattle Jaguar Club. Jake Welk, from LeMay, was recording the panel discussion so it could be Livestreamed. Renee did a great job of leading the panel discussion. Each panelist had a chance to tell their story. Ehab's story was about his first Jaguar (E-Type) and then the XK120 which he purchased from another member, Bob Alness. Everyone listened attentively to the panelists. After the panel discussion there was a surprise award presented to Ray Papineau. This was the first of a perpetual award called the Ray Papineau Concours Volunteer Award. Ray had served many years as the Concours Chair.
